Data integrity

QuasarSDS protects data against silent corruption with several independent layers.

Per-block checksums (CRC32C)

With checksumProtection: "true", every 4 KiB block carries a CRC32C checksum stored in a companion volume. The space overhead is about 0.1%. If a read does not match its checksum, the replication RAID discards it and repairs the block automatically from a healthy replica.

Periodic scrubbing

Scrubbing walks volumes in the background to detect corruption in data that is rarely read. Set the interval with scrubIntervalSeconds; a value of 0 disables it for that volume.

NVMe-oF digests

Header and data digests protect network traffic. They are configured separately for:

  • backend (nvmfDigestsBackend): replication traffic between nodes.
  • frontend (nvmfDigestsFrontend): traffic between the pod and the volume.

Possible values: none, header, data, all.
